1st Henley’s Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts descended on St Mary’s Church (by Henley bridge) on Saturday 23rd April to celebrate St George’s Day.
St George is the patron saint of England, and the day marked an ideal opportunity for members young and old to renew their Scout law/promises.
Henley were also joined by a contingent of 1st Shiplake Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

The event featured many a fan-favourite hymn, as well as readings given by Debs Boughey, Linda Cookson, and Del Harding. Father Jeremy Tayler of St Marys Church gave a delightful sermon, followed by a collection for the church and the Ukraine Fund.
Special thanks to Rhid and all who helped organise the event!
“St George’s Day is an important date in the Scouting calendar, and it’s wonderful to have so many attend our service at St Mary’s along with a deputation from 1st Shiplake. Many thank to Father Jeremy for organising it. And lovely weather too!”
Rhid Williams, 1st Henley Group Scout Leader
